On the mound — starting pitchers.

Patrick Corbin (2-1, 3.86) draws Chris Bassitt (4-3, 5.51) for a 6:35 PM ET first pitch at Camden Yards. Corbin is coming off a tidy 6-inning, 1-ER, 7-K start against the Pirates last week. Bassitt's last outing was uglier — 5 innings and 4 earned in a loss to the Nationals on May 16, and that 5.51 ERA tells you the rest.

Pinnacle has the O's at -124 with the total sitting at 8.5, which feels about right given Baltimore is humming and Toronto is a coin flip on any given night. The Orioles are 17-13 at home and just dropped 11 on Tampa Bay on Wednesday with Blaze Alexander going off for a 6-RBI night and Gunnar Henderson tagging his 12th and 13th homers. Pete Alonso has been the engine all year — 10 bombs, 33 RBI, 12 doubles.

Recent form.

Toronto's the more interesting watch here, and not in a good way. They took 2 of 3 from the Marlins to close out the homestand, but the rotation behind Corbin is a wreck. Jose Berrios just had Tommy John surgery and a stress fracture repair — done for the year. Max Scherzer (forearm) and Dylan Cease (hamstring) are both on the 15-day. Shane Bieber's still rehabbing in the FCL. That's basically the whole top half of the staff.

Injury report — info via ESPN.

Ernie Clement has quietly been one of the more reliable Jays bats — .294 with 17 doubles — but with Alejandro Kirk (thumb) and Anthony Santander (shoulder) still out, the lineup is asking a lot from the middle of the order. Addison Barger (elbow) was at least throwing again on Thursday per Schneider, so there's a sliver of light there.

Bottom line — if Bassitt finds the version of himself that doesn't give up a five-spot in the first inning, this is a layup for the home side. If he doesn't, Corbin has been steady enough to make Baltimore work for it. Lean Orioles, but the under at 8.5 isn't crazy with Corbin's command lately.
