On the mound — starting pitchers.

First pitch from Sutter Health Park is 9:05 PM CT (7:05 PM PT), with Ryan Weathers (2-2, 3.14) on the mound for New York opposite J.T. Ginn (2-3, 3.19) for the A's. Weathers has been one of the quieter steals of the year — he's allowed more than two earned runs just once in his last seven or so starts and just spun 7 shutout innings against the Rays before Aaron Judge walked it off. Ginn has been quietly excellent too, with 2 ER or fewer in 10 of his outings, but his last time out he got chased by the Padres in 2.1 innings after walking 6.

The vibes around the Yankees are about as good as it gets right now. They swept the Royals on the road by a combined score of 26-4 — including a 15-1 night in which every starter had multiple hits, a franchise first — and then walked into Sacramento and hung 8 on the A's in the series opener. That's 5 straight, and the offense is doing it without Giancarlo Stanton and Jasson Dominguez, both still working back from the IL.

Recent form.

The Athletics, on the other hand, are a mess. They've dropped 5 of 6, the home park has not been kind, and the injury list keeps getting longer. Jacob Wilson and Max Muncy are working their way back but aren't there yet, and Aaron Civale just hit the 15-day IL with shoulder tendinitis. Gunnar Hoglund is out for the season after hip surgery. Ginn is one of the few rotation pieces holding up, which makes tonight a real test — if the Yankees jump him early, this game gets ugly in a hurry.

Market agrees with the eye test. Pinnacle has the Yankees at -142 on the moneyline and laying -1.5 at +110, with the total sitting at 9.5. DK handle is hammering New York — 92% of moneyline money on the Yankees — and you can see why. The A's have been outscored 31-7 over their last 4 home games. That's not a slump, that's a wall.

If there's a path for Sacramento it's that Ginn has been steady all year and Weathers, for all the good numbers, isn't overpowering — 4 K's in his last start with 3 walks. Get into the Yankees bullpen, which is missing Angel Chivilli, and there's a window. But it's a small one, and based on what New York's lineup has done for a week straight, betting on the window staying open feels optimistic.
