Cam Schlittler (7-3, 1.87) draws Kevin Gausman (4-4, 3.60) for a 3:07 PM ET matinee at Rogers Centre. Schlittler is the AL Cy Young favorite through 12 starts and has been the closest thing baseball has to Paul Skenes, while Gausman is coming off a 5-inning, 4-earned-run outing against Baltimore that snapped a tidy stretch.
The Yankees show up at 41-27 but limping into Saturday after Ryan Weathers got chased early and the bullpen leaked in Friday's 8-5 loss. Toronto has flipped wins and losses for two weeks straight and now sits 34-36, but they own the head-to-head edge so far and the home park hasn't been kind to visiting arms. The wind is forecast to blow out to center, which is the kind of detail that matters when you're facing a fly-ball guy like Gausman.

The bigger story is who isn't playing. Aaron Judge is 4-to-6 weeks away with a stress fracture in his first rib, Giancarlo Stanton's calf keeps him out for the rest of this road trip, Austin Wells is still in concussion protocol, and Jasson Dominguez is rehabbing at Triple-A. Trent Grisham is day-to-day after going 3-for-4 against Boston last Sunday, so Boone needs him in the lineup. Ben Rice has been carrying a lot of water with 18 homers, and on a day like this he probably has to again.

- 10-Day-ILLenyn Sosa 2B — Sosa went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional run and an additional RBI on Saturday against the Twins in an 11-4 victory.
- developmental listFernando Perez P
- 60-Day-ILYimi Garcia RP — Garcia (elbow) will continue his rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday and is closing in on being reinstated from the 60-day injured list, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
- 60-Day-ILShane Bieber SP — Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Friday that Bieber (elbow) will likely make another rehab start with Triple-A Buffalo before rejoining Toronto, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Toronto isn't exactly whole either. Daulton Varsho hit the IL on Friday with wrist inflammation, Addison Barger is targeting a rehab assignment, and the rotation is still down Jose Berrios (Tommy John) and Shane Bieber. That puts more weight on Gausman in a spot where he's faced this Yankees lineup plenty of times and knows exactly how the splitter has to play.
First pitch is 3:07 PM ET. Schlittler has been the most reliable card in the deck, the Yankees need to avoid dropping the first two of a road series to a divisional pest, and Gausman has to prove the Baltimore start was a blip. There's enough here even without Judge and Vlad's recent power surge in the conversation.
