On the mound — starting pitchers.

New York rolls into Baltimore at 26-15 and somehow still cruising in the standings despite a rough week that included dropping 3 straight to the Brewers. The Orioles, meanwhile, are 18-23 and have been Yankee-food all year — Baltimore is winless in 4 tries against the Bronx so far in 2026.

Ryan Weathers gets the ball after a weird little detour. He was scratched from his May 7 start against Texas with an illness, so Monday will be his first outing since carving up these same Orioles on May 2 — 5 innings, 1 run, 3 hits in a 9-4 win. The 3.03 ERA is real, and the Yankees are going to need it real bad with Gerrit Cole still rehabbing in Double-A Somerset and Clarke Schmidt on the 60-day.

Brandon Young counters for Baltimore and his story is basically a symptom of the Orioles' season. The 4.35 ERA looks tidy enough, but he's been a Triple-A shuttle guy bouncing up to the majors because the actual rotation has imploded. Trevor Rogers (illness) is hoping to return during this series, but Cade Povich, Dean Kremer and Zach Eflin are all on the shelf, with Eflin gone for the year after Tommy John.

This is the part where you remember the lineups don't help Baltimore either. Jackson Holliday is rehabbing at Double-A Chesapeake, Jordan Westburg is on the 60-day with the elbow, Heston Kjerstad's hamstring has him on a rehab assignment, and Felix Bautista is only just now playing catch again. Gunnar Henderson and his 9 homers are basically carrying the offensive water while the rest of the room gets healthy.

The Yankees are not exactly a M*A*S*H unit either — Giancarlo Stanton hasn't started running yet, Jasson Dominguez is out a few weeks with an AC sprain, and the bullpen lost Angel Chivilli for 3 weeks of shutdown. But Aaron Judge is still Aaron Judge (16 HR), and that tends to paper over a lot when you're facing a depleted Orioles staff.

Pinnacle has the Yankees at -165 with the total sitting at 9. Given the season head-to-head, the pitching matchup edge, and the fact that Baltimore is starting a guy who keeps getting sent to Norfolk, that price feels about right. The Orioles need to actually beat New York at some point this year. Tonight is as good a spot as they're going to get.
