Alyssa Thomas has been quietly rewriting the WNBA record book for over a decade, and now there's a stat line to prove nobody else has ever done what she just did. Thomas became the first player in league history to hit 5,000 career points, 3,000 rebounds and 2,000 assists, a combo that sums up exactly why she's been one of the most complete players in the sport since she entered the league.

With this bucket, Alyssa Thomas officially reaches 5,000 career points 🔥 She is the first player in WNBA History to record 5,000 points, 3,000 rebounds, and 2,000 assists in their career! https://t.co/3R61ZZHgNT

The points total alone doesn't do it justice. Plenty of scorers hit 5,000 points. Almost nobody does it while also racking up 3,000 boards and 2,000 dimes, which tells you Thomas has spent her career doing a little bit of everything rather than chasing shots. She's a 4th overall pick from the 2014 draft (originally by the Liberty before a draft-day trade sent her to Connecticut), and she spent the next 11 seasons in Sun colors becoming the franchise's all-time leader in points, rebounds, assists and steals.

Phoenix acquired her in a deal that sent Natasha Cloud, Rebecca Allen and a first-round pick back to Connecticut ahead of the 2025 season, and it's paid off — Thomas was already the league's all-time triple-double leader before she ever put on a Mercury jersey. This latest one, her 22nd for her career and 3rd of this season, arrived with 11 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists.

Alyssa Thomas makes history 🚨 She posts her 22nd career triple-double with 11 PTS, 15 REB, & 10 AST... and she also becomes the first player in WNBA history to surpass 5,000 PTS, 3,000 REB, & 2,000 AST! Congrats @athomas_25 👏 https://t.co/PCayagK5EB

None of it came in a signature win, either — Phoenix is scuffling this season, sitting outside the playoff picture in the Western Conference. Thomas is putting up historic numbers on a team that's fighting just to stay relevant down the stretch, which somehow makes the milestone hit harder. She's not padding stats for a contender; she's the engine trying to drag a rebuilding roster somewhere.

At 34 and in her 13th season, Thomas isn't slowing down to admire the résumé. Her game has always been built on rebounding and playmaking as much as scoring, which is exactly why this specific stat combination belongs to her and nobody else. Whatever happens with Phoenix the rest of the way, she's already banked a piece of WNBA history that can't be taken back.
