Privacy Policy

Updated 2026-06-12

Barstool Bush is mostly a content-only site. Browsing is anonymous. We do not accept, process, settle, or facilitate any wagers — odds and market prices displayed on the site are read-only data sourced from third parties and shown for information and entertainment. Optional features (Google sign-in for forum posting) require a small amount of profile data, described below. Everything else (Google Analytics, server logs) is covered in the sections that follow.

Accounts & Google sign-in

If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account ID, email address, and display name from Google. We store those on our server keyed by the Google account ID so we can recognize you on return visits. We do notreceive or store your Google password, and we don't request access to any other Google data (Drive, Gmail, contacts, etc.).

Your display name and any text you post in the forum are visible to other site visitors. Your email address is not shown publicly. A signed-only session cookie (bb_session) is set on .barstoolbush.com so you stay signed in across visits; it expires after 60 days and is removed when you sign out.

You can sign out at any time from the account menu in the top-right of the site. To delete the underlying profile and any associated forum posts, DM @Barstool_Bush on X with the email address you signed in with and we'll remove it.

Games (Balderdash)

The multiplayer Balderdash game asks for a display name when you create or join a room. That name and the answers you type are sent to our game server and shown to the other players in your room — don't use a name or write anything you wouldn't want a roomful of strangers to see. Rooms are ephemeral: sessions and submissions are deleted shortly after a game ends, and abandoned rooms self-purge. A small resume token (room code + your display name) is kept in your browser's localStorage so a refresh puts you back in your seat.

Analytics & cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to measure pageviews, traffic sources, approximate location, and basic device info. GA4 sets cookies (typically _ga and _ga_*) and processes data per Google's privacy policy. We don't configure any advertising features, demographic tracking, or Google Signals beyond what GA4 collects by default for measurement purposes. We do not track or record any betting decisions, market clicks, or odds-page interactions back to your account or email.

You can opt out of GA tracking sitewide by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by enabling your browser's Do Not Track / tracking protection. Analytics exports are retained in Google BigQuery under our own account and are subject to the same GA4 scope described above — nothing additional is collected.

Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control: the site behaves the same way for every visitor and does not change what it collects in response to browser Do Not Track signals (the opt-out add-on above is the effective way to block GA4). Because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing for a Global Privacy Control signal to opt you out of.

Separately from cookies, the site uses your browser's localStorage for display preferences — selected sportsbooks and the fee toggle on Markets, your World Cup timezone and group pick, and the game resume token described above. Preferences stay in your browser and are never sent to us.

Server logs

The site's frontend is served via Cloudflare and the backend API runs on AWS Lightsail. Both keep standard server logs — IP addresses, user-agent strings, and request paths — short-term for security and abuse prevention. These aren't connected to any user identity by us.

Third-party content & data

Pages on the site embed video and image content directly from X (Twitter), YouTube, and other publicly-posted sources. When you load that content, your browser communicates directly with those providers and is subject to their privacy policies, not ours.

Odds, lines, totals, and prediction-market prices shown on the Sports Markets surface are aggregated from third-party data providers (currently Pinnacle Sports, Polymarket, Kalshi, and DraftKings). That data is fetched server-side and displayed to you. We do not share your browsing activity with these providers and they do not set cookies on the site. Nation flag images on World Cup pages load directly from flagcdn.com, a static image CDN, which sees the same standard request data any image host would.

The Polymarket Whale Watcher displays publicly-visible on-chain trading activity (wallets and any usernames those wallets publish on Polymarket). If a profile is yours and you'd like it excluded from our feed, DM @Barstool_Bush and we'll add it to the opt-out list.

What we don't collect

  • No advertising or remarketing cookies of our own.
  • No fingerprinting beyond what GA4 collects automatically.
  • No wager, account-balance, or banking information of any kind.
  • No payment methods (we don't process payments).
  • Nothing from your Google account beyond ID, email, and display name (only if you sign in).

Your rights, selling & children

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with anyone for money or for cross-context advertising — there is no advertising on the site. The site is small enough that no U.S. state privacy law's coverage thresholds currently apply to it, but we honor the spirit of those laws anyway: DM us (below) from the account in question and we'll tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it.

The site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has signed in or submitted content, contact us and we'll delete it.
