Austin Attalah narrows recruitment to Texas, Texas Tech, USC

The 2028 recruiting cycle is still years from signing day, but the sport's next great tackle prospect just took a real step toward a decision. Austin Attalah, a 6'7", 290-pound offensive tackle out of San Bernardino, California, told Rivals' Hayes Fawcett he's trimmed his list to 3 schools: Texas, Texas Tech, and USC.

For a kid who won't even be a senior for two more years, that's a serious list. Attalah is a 4-star out of Cajon High School who's reportedly racked up nearly 30 offers from programs like Ohio State, Oregon, Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida, Miami and Notre Dame, according to on3.com. Trimming that mountain of interest down to 3 blue bloods this early tells you exactly how the sport's premier programs view him: as a foundational left tackle prospect worth chasing years in advance.

USC's push has been the most visible of the bunch. Per 247Sports, Attalah took unofficial visits to USC in the spring, Trojans offensive line coach Zach Hanson has made the trip out to see him personally, and he's expected to work out at a USC camp this summer. Texas has been leaning in just as hard, with the Longhorns reportedly making him a priority target as Steve Sarkisian's staff continues to stockpile offensive line talent early in cycles. Texas Tech rounds out the trio, a reminder that the Red Raiders' aggressive, big-money approach to recruiting under Joey McGuire has them playing in rooms they weren't in a few years ago.

None of this means a commitment is close. Elite tackles at this stage of the process love to let programs sweat it out through camp circuits and unofficial visits before ever putting a hat on a table. But narrowing a nearly 30-school offer list down to 3 names this far out is Attalah signaling who he's actually serious about, and it puts Texas, Texas Tech and USC on notice that the next 12 months of contact will decide where a potential top-15 overall prospect in the 2028 class ends up.
