Chef Donny Feeds The People At Barstool Cup Ep 3

Episode 3 of the Barstool Cup turned SoFive Chi-Town into a buffet line, and Chef Donny's halftime cheesesteak never even made it to the booth.

The Barstool Cup is supposed to be a 5-a-side soccer tournament with $50K on the line, but somewhere between the penalty shoot-outs and the yellow cards, it became a food show. Chef Donny showed up at SoFive Chi-Town with a halftime tray and a mission: feed the people. The people, as it turns out, included one PFT Commenter, who saw a foil-wrapped Philly cheesesteak walking toward the broadcast desk and decided finders keepers.

That's the whole gag in 30 seconds — Donny in the apron, the Pepsi concession-stand lower-third, and PFT in a USA jersey and bucket hat making off with the sandwich like he just stole a transfer-window deadline deal. Donny didn't seem too broken up about it either. A few hours later he was back on the timeline with the only mission statement that matters.

While Donny was getting fleeced backstage, the actual soccer was doing its job. The Hotshots and New Amsterdam FC went the distance, with Mark Titus turning into a knee-sliding hero for NAFC and a penalty shoot-out eventually deciding things at 1-1 through 4 and 3 kicks. The beautiful game, indoors, with a New Amsterdam Vodka icebox where the penalty box should be.

That's the rhythm of Episode 3: real stakes between the boards, full clown energy everywhere else. Dana Beers picking up a yellow card and walking past the Icebox cooler like he was heading to the kitchen. Mintzy chesting one in and calling himself Messi. A cameraman eating turf before kickoff even happened. And presiding over all of it, a chef trying to deliver a cheesesteak that never had a chance. Feed the people, indeed.
