Braylen Warren shuts down recruitment, sticks with Missouri

TLDR: Four-star QB Braylen Warren says he's done recruiting and will sign with Missouri, days after Matt Campbell flew to Omaha during Penn State's bye week to offer him.

Penn State spent its bye week on a flip attempt. It lasted about a week, and the beat writers are already moving on.

Penn State coach Matt Campbell went to Omaha during the bye week to offer Warren. Penn State will keep looking for a 2027 QB with the early signing period starting Dec. 2.

NEWS: Four-Star QB Braylen Warren has shut down his recruitment and will sign with Missouri, he tells me for @Rivals He’s led his team to a 9-0 start, totaling 2,332 yards and 28 TDs t.co/vYkVUw3WCu t.co/foeTWDdMcg

Here's how it got here. Warren, the quarterback at Omaha Westside, committed to Eli Drinkwitz on December 4, 2025, and was the first commit in Missouri's 2027 class. For 10 months it was quiet. Then Penn State lost its only 2027 quarterback commit when Will Wood flipped to Boston College, and Campbell needed a replacement fast.

He went straight to Nebraska. Warren is an Elite 11 finalist and the No. 18 quarterback in the class in the 247Sports composite, and he has a Penn State tie: he played at Westside with current Nittany Lions safety Bryson Williams. That's about as good an opening as a new staff gets for a kid who's been committed somewhere else for nearly a year.

Warren's next game didn't help Penn State's cause, because it made him look like a QB you'd keep at any cost. Two days after the offer, Westside beat previously unbeaten Millard South 41-17, and Warren outplayed Trae Taylor, the No. 1 quarterback in the country and a Nebraska commit. Mizzou fans saw that. So did Penn State fans, who were now watching their late target pull further out of reach.

Then Warren ended it. He told On3's Hayes Fawcett and Rivals he's shutting his recruitment down and will sign with the Tigers. For Drinkwitz it's a clean result: he keeps the first piece of the class, and he never had to sweat a December visit weekend.

For Penn State, the clock is the issue. The early signing period opens Dec. 2, there's no 2027 QB in the class, and the top flip target just said no. Campbell's first full recruiting cycle now depends on finding someone in the next month, either another committed kid he can pry loose or an uncommitted arm most of the country has already passed on. Watch the offer list over the next couple of weeks, because that's how you'll know who's next.
