Game 6 in Montreal was the kind of night that turns casual hockey watchers into lifers. Andrei Vasilevskiy stood on his head, the Bell Centre was loud enough to rattle the broadcast, and the Lightning gutted out the win they had to have to drag the series back to Tampa.
For long stretches it looked like nothing was ever going in. Mintzy basically spoke for everyone watching at home — the building was rocking, both goalies were dialed in, and you started to wonder if you were going to get an entire elimination game without a puck crossing a line.
When Tampa finally broke through to force a Game 7 back home, the celebration spilled across every Barstool account at once. The series isn't dead. The Bolts get one more night on their own ice with everything on the line, and Montreal — which had a chance to close it out at home — now has to go win on the road.
And that's where Paulie Playoffs jumped in with the take that hit different. He and Feits went to a Bruins-Habs playoff game in that same building over a decade ago, and he's still calling it the best scene in sports — a must-do. He's not wrong. There's nothing in North American sports quite like a playoff night in Montreal: the anthem, the towels, the bilingual chants, the way the whole city seems to lean into the building. Whoever wins Game 7 gets to move on. Anyone who's never made the trip should probably start pricing flights for the next time the Habs draw the Bruins in May.
