Training camp hype is a fragile thing, and the Panthers just watched theirs get carted off the field. Chris Brazzell, the rookie who'd been turning heads with highlight-reel catches all summer, went down again Wednesday and this time he couldn't put any weight on the leg.
Brazzell needed help just to get off the practice field before being carted to the locker room.

This wasn't out of nowhere. Brazzell had already missed a handful of practices with soreness in that same left knee before working his way back into drills this week. Getting hurt again in the same spot, and worse this time, is the kind of pattern that makes teams nervous, especially with a rookie who was starting to prove he belonged.
The update confirmed it's the same knee that had already sidelined him, and he's now being run through tests.

Brazzell was a third-round pick this year, and by all accounts he'd been one of the more encouraging stories of Carolina's camp, flashing the kind of ball skills that got people buzzing about his ceiling before he'd even played a real game. Carolina's receiver room is already thin, which is exactly why a knee that keeps acting up on the same rookie matters so much.
For now it's a wait-and-see situation. The Panthers haven't put a name on what's actually wrong, just that Brazzell is undergoing further evaluation. Until those tests come back, every camp rep he's missing is one he doesn't get to make his case for a role in Carolina's offense.
