Former Arkansas commit Darion Moseley picks Northwestern

TLDR: Three-star 2027 WR Darion Moseley of Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson, who used to be committed to Arkansas, committed to Northwestern right after his weekend official visit to Evanston.

The Wildcats got Moseley on campus for an official visit and didn't let him leave without a pledge. The news broke Sunday night.

Moseley wasn't always headed this way. He committed to Arkansas on May 2, then backed off that pledge and reopened his recruitment. By the time he was looking again, his reported list had Northwestern next to SEC programs Kentucky and Mississippi State. The rest of his offer sheet was solid too: Missouri, Washington, Vanderbilt and West Virginia all offered him.

Then the Wildcats closed it. Northwestern beat Rutgers 42-14 the weekend he was in town, which moved the 24th-ranked Wildcats to 6-1. You can't script a better official visit than that. You show a kid a ranked team pounding a Big Ten opponent, and a few hours later he's posting the commitment.

Moseley gave the staff credit. He said the coaches were intentional with him and named Christian Sarkisian, Armon Binns and Luke Walerius as the people he connected with. He added that "Northwestern being faith-based is the cherry on top."

Northwestern isn't getting a project here. At 6-foot and 190 pounds, Moseley has 53 catches for 862 yards and 10 touchdowns this season at Thompson, one of the best programs in Alabama. Rivals Industry ranks him as the No. 27 receiver in the country. Taking a kid like that out of SEC country, away from a school he was already committed to, is a win Northwestern doesn't get very often.

He's the 22nd commit in Northwestern's 2027 class, so the class is close to full and it's getting better. The question now is whether the winning keeps opening doors like this one. If the Wildcats keep stacking wins this fall, Moseley might not be the last former SEC commit who takes a visit to Evanston and stays.
