Davante Adams' Camp Comments Have Barstool Pushing Pizza Review

Davante Adams dropped some accidental pizza scale knowledge during an NFL Network camp hit, and now Dave Portnoy and Barstool want him on an official review.

Davante Adams is in his first training camp with the Rams after signing a two-year, $44 million deal in March, and somewhere in a live NFL Network hit from the practice field, he apparently said something about pizza that made Barstool's internal alarm bells go off. It wasn't a highlight catch or a Stafford connection that got clipped and passed around Barstool's accounts on August 11 -- it was Adams, unprompted, showing off what people are calling elite knowledge of Dave Portnoy's one-bite grading scale.

Adams sat down for a live NFL Network 'Inside Training Camp' segment from the Rams' practice field, the same hit that sparked the pizza scale buzz.

Portnoy's scale isn't exactly a secret, but it's notoriously hard to use correctly if you're not steeped in Barstool lore -- decimals only, a near-impossible 10, and the signature line "one bite, everybody knows the rules." He's been running these reviews since 2013 and has racked up over 1,000 of them, so when a random NFL wide receiver namechecks the mechanics of the thing on live TV, Portnoy notices.

I gotta get him on a review. This was elite ball knowledge

That's Portnoy himself calling for Adams to get an actual review, not just a passing shoutout. Coming from the guy who created the scale, that's about as close to an invitation as it gets, and Barstool's main account wasn't far behind with its own version of the ask.

Need him on a review https://t.co/FZQvGdFthD

None of the available footage actually shows Adams sitting down with a pie in front of him -- what's floating around is just the live camp interview segment, with the pizza talk apparently happening in a part of the conversation that didn't make the clip. So the specifics of what Adams actually said are still a little fuzzy, but it was enough to get Portnoy and the Barstool account both making the same ask within hours of each other.

Adams, 33, is a three-time All-Pro who's spent stops in Green Bay, Las Vegas and New York before landing with the Rams this offseason, and he's clearly won over the building fast enough that his food opinions are now a bigger topic than his camp reps. Whether Portnoy actually follows through and books him for a review is the next thing to watch -- Barstool doesn't let a call like this die quietly once El Presidente is the one making it.
