The 8-seed Grinders clawed back from a 3-0 hole, stomped the Bonus Round, and punched their Final Four ticket on the back of a MINIONS answer nobody saw coming.

Tournament 6 has been chalk-resistant from the jump, but the Round 2, Match 10 closeout between the 6-Booze Ponies and the 8-Grinders might be the moment people point at when they tell the origin story of Jake Malasek. The Grinders walked into an elimination game with the last Final Four spot on the line, fell behind 3-0 right out of the gate, and then quietly turned the screws on a Ponies team that had Dana Beers, Will Compton, and Feitelberg loaded up to bury them.

The Bonus Round is where it actually flipped. Gruden, Frank the Tank, and Malasek went on a tear in the New Amsterdam round and turned a 3-0 hole into the kind of run that ends seasons. Frank in particular was unconscious — guessing within a single game of the Marlins' total regular-season wins since 2005 is the kind of number that doesn't come from research, it comes from being mentally ill in the best way.

And the Randy Moss question might be the funniest tie in Bonus Round history. One team wrote 84, the other wrote 48 — same digits, flipped — on a question about Moss's career 30+ yard touchdown catches. Both teams basically agreed on the answer and disagreed on the order. Pure Dozen chaos.

But the real coronation moment came when the MINIONS category dropped in Round 10 with a Final Four bid hanging on it. Malasek's 'Ahhh, classic scene!' delivery is exactly the kind of unhinged confidence that turns a Dozen contestant into a face of the show. The scoreboard went 14-9 to 16-9, the Ponies never recovered, and by the time Geography rolled around with Green Bay as the answer, the Grinders were already mentally in the Final Four.

Dana Beers — yes, the guy on the LOSING side of this match — said the quiet part out loud after the dust settled: Malasek is the future face of the Dozen. That's not a small thing coming from a Ponies captain who just got bounced. And with Frank the Tank reportedly channeling his inner Jalen Brunson all postseason, the Grinders aren't just sneaking into the Final Four as the 8-seed gimmick. They're showing up as the team nobody actually wants to draw.

Final Four tonight. If the Grinders finish the job, the 'team of destiny' label sticks for good — and Malasek's coronation goes from a Dana Beers tweet to a Dozen Trivia banner.
