Now he lands at Southern Miss for one more shot as WR1 under center.
The name recognition comes from one specific Saturday. In 2024, Hampton started for Northern Illinois when the Huskies went into South Bend and beat No. 5 Notre Dame 16-14 — the first win by a MAC program over a top-5 AP opponent, ending a 51-game losing streak for the conference against top-five teams. Hampton threw an 83-yard touchdown to Antario Brown in that game and finished the season with 10 starts for NIU.

If he plays anything like he did against Notre Dame, that Auburn trip gets a lot more interesting than a typical Group of Five body-bag game.
