But credit Carolina too: this was a wagon.

Captain Jordan Staal walked away with the Conn Smythe, becoming the oldest player to ever win the playoff MVP trophy. Twenty years after lifting his first Cup as a teenager around this league, Staal got to do it again as the guy holding the room together. There's a whole debate about whether Staal or Seth Jarvis or someone else deserved it — Whitney was already lobbying for somebody named Blake before he finished his tweet — but the captain getting the nod for the captain's run feels right.

The funniest part of the whole run is that Barstool has been calling it for weeks. There's a hype cut floating around suggesting the Canes had been secretly practicing the Cup lift all season — players hoisting random benches and boards over their heads in the team facility like it was a workout. It was a joke. Until it wasn't.
