Raiders WR Jack Bech Breaks Forearm, Headed To IR

Another Raiders Sunday, another guy getting helped off. Jack Bech, the young receiver Vegas has been working into the offense, got hurt against the Saints, and he never came back. At first there was no word on how bad it was. Then the team made it official and ruled him out.

"Forearm injury" can mean a lot of things, from a bruise to something worse. About 45 minutes later we found out it was the worse one. Ian Rapoport reported it was a broken forearm and that Bech is headed to IR. The good news in the same report is that this is not being treated as season-ending.

Going on IR means at least 4 weeks on the shelf, and a broken bone in the arm of a guy whose job is catching footballs probably takes longer than that. The Raiders are going to be down a receiver for a real chunk of the season.

It stings because Bech has been on the rise. Vegas took him at No. 58 overall in the second round of the 2025 draft out of TCU. His last college season was huge: 62 catches for 1,034 yards and 9 touchdowns, making him just the 5th 1,000-yard receiver in Horned Frogs history. Then he won Senior Bowl MVP by catching the game-winning touchdown on 4th-and-goal with 7 seconds left. That's a guy who shows up when it counts.

Year 2 was supposed to be his jump, and it started that way. He caught a touchdown in the opener, then 2 more balls the next week. He didn't have a catch against the Saints before he got hurt. It's not a monster stat line, but he was clearly working his way into the rotation, and now he has to stop right when he was building momentum.

What to watch now: who takes his snaps, and whether the Raiders sign someone or just move the depth chart around. Then keep an eye on the IR calendar. If Rapoport's timeline is right, Bech is back for the stretch run, and a healthy young receiver in November and December is worth more than one in September anyway. For now, it's one more body the Raiders can't afford to lose.
