Oklahoma State flips J'lynnd Kellow from Mississippi State

TLDR: Oklahoma State pulled 2027 cornerback J'lynnd Kellow out of his Mississippi State commitment on Thursday, the Cowboys' second defensive flip in 2 days and a recruit taken straight from the SEC.
Kellow had been in Mississippi State's class since June, so this one wasn't a coin flip over an uncommitted kid. Stillwater took him back.

Here's the background. Kellow is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound corner from Willis High School, north of Houston, and he committed to Mississippi State on June 9 after an official visit to Starkville in late May. At the time he was the Bulldogs' 10th commit of the 2027 cycle and their 5th defensive back. Oklahoma State was already on his offer list next to Arkansas and Texas Tech, so the Cowboys didn't come out of nowhere. They just never stopped recruiting him.
That's what makes this one sting for Mississippi State. According to Rivals, Oklahoma State was the leader in this recruitment before Kellow ever picked the Bulldogs. Cornerbacks coach Julian Wilson built the early relationship and kept working it through the summer and fall. Kellow took an official visit to Stillwater this past weekend, and a few days later he flipped.

The 'second in as many days' part matters as much as the name. Making a flip stick takes a staff that keeps calling kids after they've committed somewhere else, and Oklahoma State has now done it twice on the defensive side of the ball in one week. Taking one from an SEC program is the kind of thing a Big 12 staff gets to brag about on the trail.
Kellow told Rivals his reasons plainly: "The biggest thing is that the culture and the coaching staff and the team all feel right to me." Funny enough, culture was the same thing he said sold him on Mississippi State back in June. Recruiting is a business of feelings, and the feelings changed after a weekend in Stillwater.

For the record, he's a 3-star prospect. Rivals has him as the No. 108 corner in the country and the No. 117 player in Texas, so he isn't a blue-chip headliner. He's a long Texas corner with a real SEC offer in hand, and Oklahoma State wanted him enough to keep after him for months. That's the kind of depth piece a secondary gets built on.
Next up is keeping him. Kellow has already changed his mind once, and Mississippi State knows exactly where he lives. Until he signs, nobody in Stillwater should get comfortable. For now the Cowboys' 2027 defensive class is on a heater, and the Bulldogs are looking for a new corner.
