The fumble return wasn't even the end of it. Cole got a 2nd Mateer fumble late in the half, on a 4th-and-1, and brought it back 23 yards to set up another Georgia touchdown. The 28-0 halftime score was mostly Oklahoma's own doing. Georgia QB Gunner Stockton hit his first 9 passes, and the Bulldogs defense barely had to work for its points. About 9 minutes after the TE suggestion, DoubleVodkaDon came back to take a victory lap.

It’s about time John Mateer starts considering a switch to TE. It’s not gonna happen at QB.

To be fair, the final stat line looks fine if you skip the first half. Mateer finished 25-of-34 for 231 yards and 2 touchdowns, most of it in garbage time after Georgia had already put it away. That's what's so frustrating with him: he produces enough to keep you believing, then turns it over at the exact moment the game gets decided. Georgia moves to 4-0 and hosts Vanderbilt next Saturday. Oklahoma has an off week, then plays No. 1 Texas in Dallas on October 10. If Mateer puts the ball on the ground like this in the Red River game, nobody is going to be joking about tight end.
