Jon Gruden on Eagles vs. Jaguars' Teal Curtain in Week 5

TLDR: Jon Gruden took the Week 5 Gruden Family Football Show to the whiteboard for an Eagles line that lost Lane Johnson and Cam Jurgens in 2 days, with Jacksonville's front next in London.

The Barstool crew has a name for that Jaguars front: the Teal Curtain. Gruden's job this week was explaining why Philly should be worried about it.

Here's how fast it fell apart. Lane Johnson retired on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Howie Roseman traded Cam Jurgens, a 2-time Pro Bowl center, to the Ravens. Philly sent Jurgens and a 2027 7th-rounder to Baltimore for a 2027 5th and a 2028 2nd. Roseman says they weren't shopping him. "We weren't looking to move Cam," he said, and he pitched it as a deal that helps the Eagles compete for a long time. That may be true, but it doesn't help this Sunday.

The depth chart is ugly. Jake Majors, an undrafted free agent from 2025, took the starting center reps at practice, and Willie Lampkin slid over to left guard. Drew Kendall, who was supposed to be the new starting center, sat out Wednesday with a bad knee. Swing tackle Fred Johnson was limited with a knee of his own. That's 2 Week 1 starters gone and the backups banged up, 4 days before an international game.

Gruden isn't new to the Jaguars bandwagon, either. On Wake Up Barstool's Week 4 recap he spent a while praising Bryce Young and Carolina, then swung over to Jacksonville unprompted and told Dave the Jags were being slept on.

“And no one talks about Jacksonville either, Dave. I think the Jaguars are a team that people got to get to know.” – Jon Gruden

The Eagles are about to get to know them the hard way. The game is Sunday, October 11 at 9:30 AM ET at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. That means a reshuffled line has to deal with jet lag and an early kickoff on top of a fresh lineup up front. The episode title is a pretty good summary of where the Eagles are this week.

Some people are reading the 2 moves together as a sign Philly is looking past 2026, with an eye on keeping Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean when they're up for new deals. Maybe. For Sunday, the only question is whether Majors, Lampkin and whoever's healthy at tackle can keep the pocket clean against a defense Gruden has been hyping for a week. If the Teal Curtain lives up to the name, the Jurgens trade gets a lot louder by Monday.
