Jordyn Tyson won't practice as Saints head to Paris

TLDR: Saints rookie receiver Jordyn Tyson won't practice this week as New Orleans flies to Paris to play the Steelers, with GM Mickey Loomis saying the team is taking his hamstring slowly and cautiously.
The No. 8 overall pick made the trip overseas. He just isn't getting on the practice field.
Tyson hurt his hamstring in a joint practice with the Jaguars in August, and he hasn't played a regular-season snap since. Saints fans have now waited 7 weeks for their 1st-round receiver to show up, and that wait isn't over. Loomis didn't give a return date, but he did explain why the team is in no hurry.

Jordyn Tyson will not practice this week. Mickey Loomis said they're taking it slow and cautious.
Slow and cautious is the right call here. Hamstrings were a problem for Tyson at Arizona State too, and that history is a big part of why a receiver with his talent was still there at 8. The Saints spent a top-10 pick on him, and rushing him back for 1 game in Paris only to lose him again would be the worst outcome possible. Kellen Moore has said this injury isn't related to the college ones. Loomis sounded hopeful, saying Tyson is improving and adding that he hopes this is the one and only injury Tyson ever has.
The schedule actually helps. After the Steelers on Sunday, New Orleans has its Week 8 bye, so sitting Tyson this week buys him 2 more weeks of rehab while he only misses 1 game. The earliest realistic return is Week 9, at home against the Browns. Even then, expect the Saints to ease him in. A rookie who has missed this much time, with this medical history, probably won't get 60 snaps in his first game back.
The insiders all landed on the same message Wednesday morning. It wasn't a setback. He's just not ready yet.
What to watch next: whether Tyson goes back to practice when the Saints return from the bye. If he's running routes in that week leading into the Browns game, Week 9 is in play. If the bye ends and he's still sitting, the conversation shifts from patience to real concern about a rookie year that hasn't started.
