Kalen DeBoer rages as Georgia beats Alabama on a no-call

TLDR: No. 2 Georgia beat No. 6 Alabama 20-17 on the road after officials let KJ Bolden's hit on Rico Scott in the end zone go without a pass interference flag, and Kalen DeBoer lost it.
With 3:28 left and Alabama chasing 3 points, Keelon Russell threw to the end zone for Rico Scott. Here is the play Tuscaloosa will be yelling about all week.
Bolden got into Scott without ever turning to play the ball. No flag. Then it got worse: Georgia sacked Russell on the very next snap, Alabama had to punt, and the Tide never got close again. One drive went from a possible tying field goal, or better, to a punt in 2 plays, and the no-call is why.
Kayce Smith wasn't the only one who saw it that way. Every replay looks like textbook DPI, and the loudest crowd in the SEC had every reason to keep booing. Brandon Walker, though, was not shedding a tear for the team that has lived on the right side of the zebras for a long, long time.
That's the cleanest take you'll get from anyone who isn't an Alabama fan. Decades of Bama getting the benefit of the doubt and now everyone else is supposed to feel bad? Nope. DeBoer felt plenty bad though. A little later, still down 20-17 with 2:19 left and another flag on the field, he went off on his own sideline.
The clip doesn't show who he was yelling at, and the line is Barstool's read on what he screamed. But the mood comes through. This is a coach who has spent the whole season getting asked if he's the right guy to follow Saban, and a home loss to Georgia that turns on 1 call is not going to quiet that. Back in September, an unnamed voice on Barstool Chicago guessed Alabama would rather have Lane Kiffin, and nights like this are why takes like that keep coming.
The sack after the no-call shouldn't have surprised anybody, either. On Wake Up Barstool on 10-08, 2 days before kickoff, someone on the panel said exactly where Alabama could get beat.
“This year, Georgia is creating those negative plays, and Alabama still can be susceptible to sacks, tackles for loss.”
That's how it went. Georgia's defense kept every Alabama receiver under 40 yards, and the passing game never took off: Russell finished 16-of-30 for 185 yards, and leading receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams left early hurt. On the other side, Dwight Phillips Jr. ran for 120 yards on 17 carries and Gunner Stockton went 18-of-22 for 249. The bad call decided the ending, but Georgia was the better team for most of the night.
Georgia is 6-0 and, with Texas losing to Oklahoma, should be No. 1 in the next AP poll before a trip to Auburn. Alabama gets no time to sulk: next up is a road game at No. 15 Tennessee, and DeBoer's seat just got a lot warmer.
