Kam Roberts adds Florida, Alabama, Oregon and Miami offers

October has been a big month for a kid who is only a sophomore. Here is the news, and the reason Gainesville stands out from the rest of the list.

Florida, Miami, Oregon and Alabama have all offered DB Kam Roberts this month. The UF offer REALLY hits home though. 👀🐊 Why? His brother previously signed with the Gators before turning pro. "He will get his degree from there." DETAILS: t.co/oUeAIWXuZm (On3+)
Roberts is a cornerback at Brandon High School in Brandon, Mississippi. 247Sports has him as a 3-star with an 88 rating. These 4 offers come on top of an October that already had schools lining up. 247Sports counted Power 4 offers this month from BYU, Mississippi State, North Carolina, UCLA and Virginia Tech, along with Florida. When a Mississippi defensive back starts collecting offers from all over the country this early, he has already gone national.
The family link is why Florida stands apart. According to the On3 reporting, Roberts' brother signed with the Gators and then turned pro before he got to campus. The family still treats Florida as part of his future: "He will get his degree from there." So this offer isn't just another logo for the graphic. The Roberts family already knows the place.

NEW: 2028 CB Kam Roberts is picking up offers from Alabama, Oregon, Miami and Florida — but the Gators hit different for a reason his family knows well👀 "Their offer means a lot to me. It's a major opportunity." Intel: t.co/oCwnGEsEoN
Roberts sums it up himself: "Their offer means a lot to me. It's a major opportunity." A 2028 kid saying that in October of his sophomore year doesn't amount to a commitment, but it does tell you where Florida stands right now. Alabama, Oregon and Miami are not schools you wave off, though, and each will get 2 more years to make its pitch.
The local school isn't going away either. Mississippi State is about 2 hours from Brandon, and Roberts has already been to a Bulldogs game this season. Even so, he told 247Sports he's "staying focused on our high-school season." That's the right answer at this stage.
Next up is visits, and whether the offers keep coming once more people have seen his junior film. The 3-star ranking looks like it will go up the way this month has gone. If Florida stays in front through all of it, the reason is already settled: the Gators got this family's trust once before.
