Klemmer's Knicks Brain Worms Reach A New Frontier

Klemmer's Knicks Brain Worms Reach A New Frontier

Chris Klemmer sent Meek Phill a World Champion gift after the NBA Finals, and the Sports Central crew can't decide if it's classy or a full psychological break.

Klemmer has been a card-carrying Knicks lunatic for as long as anyone at Barstool can remember, so the fact that the Knicks actually winning a championship has scrambled his wiring was always going to be the most entertaining subplot of the offseason. What nobody had on the bingo card was Klemmer extending an olive branch — and a literal gift — to Meek Phill for his own World Champion status. Sports Central pulled the curtain back on the move and the studio could barely process it.

Hubbs, who has spent years documenting Klemmer's basketball-induced suffering, is taking this development like a man watching a friend speak in tongues. He's calling it one of the strangest moves he's ever seen, and the read is basically that the Knicks finally getting over the hump has melted whatever competitive grudge software Klemmer had been running on for decades. A classy gesture from Klemmer is, ironically, the most alarming thing he could possibly do.

One of the strangest moves I've ever seen. The Knicks winning broke Klemmer's brain

Of course, this being Barstool, the warm-and-fuzzy moment didn't last 15 minutes before PAT torched the whole thing on the timeline. The same day Klemmer is out here playing gift-giver, PAT clocked the timing — Pride Month — and immediately accused him of hating gay people for, apparently, NOT sending a gift to everyone else. It's the kind of galaxy-brain heel turn that only works in the Barstool ecosystem, and it landed.

So Klemmer hates gay people. Got it. Happy Pride

And then, because Klemmer is incapable of having a single normal day, the same Sports Central episode caught him going on a rant about the World Cup stealing baseball's spotlight — a take so baseball-purist that even Hubbs, a self-professed every-night MLB guy, had to push back and point out there isn't really a June national spotlight to steal in the first place. Gift-giver, hater, baseball monk, Knicks champion. The man is contains multitudes, and his brain is, by all accounts, completely cooked.

Klemmer goes off on the World Cup for poaching MLB's airtime.
