He's got 2 years of eligibility left, and by all accounts he's spent the offseason trying to carve out real snaps in a room that doesn't lack for options.
That's the real story here. Florida's staff has reportedly settled on a top five at receiver of Singleton, Brown, Wilson, Mays and fellow transfer Bailey Stockton, which means Mays isn't just a camp body — he's in the mix to actually play early and often for a Gators offense that's leaning on Buster Faulkner's system this fall.
None of this means Mays is a lock to be Florida's No. 1 target. Wilson and Brown have already produced at the SEC level, and Singleton brings a track record from two Power 4 stops. But when a portal analyst as plugged-in as Nakos is fielding "absolute stud" chatter on a guy competing for reps behind that trio, it's worth paying attention to. Fall camp buzz doesn't always translate to Saturdays, but it's a strong early signal that Florida's receiver room might be even deeper than the preseason hype already suggested.
