Nick Sirianni Loses It After Jalen Hurts Hit vs. Bears

The setup is Monday Night Football, 2nd quarter, Chicago up 7-0. Hurts takes off, runs out of bounds and gets smoked on the sideline. The flag comes out for the late hit, and so does the blue tent. Hurts gets pulled for a concussion evaluation, Andy Dalton jogs on, and Sirianni turns toward the field and absolutely unloads on somebody.

There's no audio, so be clear about what this is: Barstool and Pardon My Take lip-read the clip and landed on "YOU'RE A PUSSY." Nobody has confirmed that's what he said, and nobody has confirmed who he said it to. But if you've watched Sirianni for 5 minutes you know this is peak Sirianni: red face, full volume, no filter. The one thing the footage does show is a coach who was not okay with what just happened to his quarterback.

Then the part that actually hurt Philly. With Hurts in the tent, Dalton kept a promising drive going and threw it into the end zone, where Bears DB Dillon Thieneman picked it off. Points gone. It's funny because a week earlier, on Wake Up Barstool, the Dalton-as-backup plan was being sold as no big deal.

The sky didn't fall, but a red-zone trip did. Hurts got cleared, came back looking very unhappy about the whole concussion process, and punched in a rushing touchdown before the half. Chicago still took a 10-7 lead into the break. After the game Sirianni kept it measured: "The doctors have to do their job. The guys — they got to protect these guys," and said they needed "to take care of the ball with Andy." So that's the calm postgame version. The sideline version is the one on your timeline.

And a quick receipt for anyone who called the Hurts touchdown. T-Bob closed the show Monday morning with a very confident Eagles pick.

Half of that came true. The Hurts touchdown happened. A 27-13 Eagles blowout was not what anybody saw in the first half. What sticks from this game is Sirianni, a coach who never pretends to be calm, losing it over a shot on his franchise QB, plus a backup who turned it over in the one drive he got. Look for the league to review that hit, and look for a lot more lip-reading of that sideline the next time Hurts goes down.
