There are hot streaks, and then there is whatever Colton Cowser is doing right now. The Orioles spent Sunday afternoon staring down their final out, 0-2 count, season-grade tension — and Cowser just deleted it. One swing, ballgame over, everyone goes home.
Down to the last strike, Cowser uncorks the swing that ends it.
That alone would have been the highlight of the weekend in Baltimore. Except Cowser apparently decided one wasn't enough. The very next night, with the Orioles needing another late jolt, he stepped in and did the exact same thing again — another walk-off tank, another dogpile, another camera shot of teammates losing their minds at home plate.
24 hours later, he does it all over again.
This is the part where you start running out of normal adjectives. Jared Carrabis didn't bother — he went straight to calling Cowser a menace, painting him as a guy who wakes up, hits walk-off bombs, and goes back to bed to reset for the next one. Which, based on the last 48 hours, is genuinely how it looks.
Carrabis tries to put the run into words and basically gives up.
The bigger picture for Baltimore: this is a team that already mashes — Gunnar Henderson and Oneil Cruz types are launching baseballs into orbit on the regular — but having a guy who shows up specifically when the inning says "or else" is a different kind of weapon. Cowser was already a fan favorite. After this weekend he's something closer to a problem the rest of the league has to plan around. Two nights, two final-swing endings. Good luck to whoever has to face him on night three.
