Eric Hosmer joins Pardon My Take for MLB playoff talk

TLDR: Eric Hosmer went on Pardon My Take on October 2 to talk MLB playoffs and show off a bottle from his last Royals game, one day after the Phillies were knocked out.
Hosmer picked a rough day to talk baseball with this crew. By Friday morning every team the show roots for in October was gone, and they announced it like PMT itself had been knocked out.
The mourning is real, even if 'Pardon My Take has been eliminated' is a joke. Atlanta beat Philadelphia 6-2 Thursday night in Game 3 of the NL Wild Card Series at Truist Park. Michael Harris II hit a 3-run homer off Aaron Nola in the 1st inning and the game never really got going for the Phillies after that. That makes 4 postseason series losses in a row for one of the highest payrolls in baseball, so 'might be dead forever' is only half a bit.
That's the mood Hosmer walked into, and this booking had been building for a while. On Wake Up Barstool earlier in the week, Big Cat was already pulling Hosmer into the playoff arguments, specifically about rest days and Game 1 starters, after Che didn't like Matthew Boyd getting the ball in Game 1.
“Eric Hosmer has failed us as a teacher of Stephen Che, and I texted him last night.” – Big Cat
So the actual teacher showed up. The episode billed him on rest vs. rust and who he likes in the next round, and that's a fair topic for a guy who's actually won one. Hosmer was the first baseman on the Royals team that won the 2015 World Series. His walk-off sac fly in Game 1 of that Series was his 25th postseason RBI, which broke George Brett's franchise record. He came on by video from a room covered in his own Royals photos, and from the first exchange he fit right in.
The best part came that evening, and it had nothing to do with rotations. Hosmer has a special bottle of liquor that he's kept from his last game with the Royals. That would be the end of 2017, before he hit free agency and signed an 8-year, $144 million deal with San Diego. When the studio asked about 'that bottle,' he told the story.
Hosmer also had a Silver Slugger plaque and a World Series trophy sitting behind him the whole time, which is a good look for a guy who retired in February 2024 to start his own media company, MoonBall Media. Alshon Jeffery was in studio on the same episode, alongside the Browns at 3-1 and a Week 4 preview, so it was a stacked show. Hosmer, though, gave the baseball side a reason to keep watching after their own teams went home. With the Braves moving on to face the Dodgers in the Division Series, don't be surprised if Big Cat is texting him again by next week.
