The Barstool guys know the genre better than anyone. Ohio's Tate had just spent 24 hours inside a McDonald's paying off his own bet, a punishment grid he posted promising Ohio State would go undefeated, which ended when the Buckeyes lost to Texas. The rule he lived by was 1 hour off his sentence for every Big Mac he ate. So when a stranger's bet came due, nobody had much sympathy. Tate showed up Thursday night with a toast.

The prediction markets had him around -190 to make it with about a week to go, so anybody who bet his dignity against it was betting against the favorite.
