Gaz Turns Cancel Me If You Can Into A Parade Countdown

Stoolsalesguy is hammering the pre-order button on Dave Portnoy's new book, telling fans the clock is ticking if they want it in hand by parade season.

The book is real, the book has arrived, and Dave Portnoy is doing the obligatory selfie-cam victory lap. Cancel Me If You Can is out for pre-order, and the early word from inside the building is that this isn't a phoned-in vanity project. Per Gaz, it's 20+ chapters of Portnoy actually letting it rip again — the kind of writing that built Barstool in the first place before the guy was running a media empire and feuding with half of Twitter.

That's where Gaz comes in. The salesguy is doing what the salesguy does — turning a launch into urgency. His pitch isn't subtle: order it now, or you're rolling the dice on whether it shows up in time. And the deadline he's dangling isn't a random Tuesday. It's the parade. Pick your team, pick your city, pick your duck boat — the framing works either way, and that's the whole point.

Order now better chance to get it in time for the parade

Gaz has also been talking up the actual contents, claiming a lot of what's in the book is going to make waves and get picked up by mainstream news. He's already hedged on at least one chapter — he called the Four Presidencies section a miss — which, weirdly, gives the rest of the hype more weight. A salesguy admitting one chapter didn't land reads less like spin and more like a guy who actually read it.

The internal case for why this Portnoy is the Portnoy old-school Stoolies have been waiting on.

It is if my belief that a lot of what is in this book is gonna make a lot of waves. Lotta mainstream news. It’s also very funny. Newer barstool ppl may not realize Dave’s writing is what got people hooked on Barstool initially. We haven’t had that Dave in like 10 years. Now you’re getting 20+ chapters and hundred of pages of him letting it rip.

Behind the scenes, the book is already causing friction in the office — Rico and Gaz got into it over which story would get picked up first, with Rico going off about being talked to like a child. Combine that with Stoolies in the replies asking Portnoy how many copies have moved so far, and you've got the early signs of a launch that's actually got momentum. Whether the parade ships on time is anyone's guess. The pre-order push, though, is fully on.

The Rico/Gaz blowup over which Cancel Me If You Can story breaks first.
