Preston Glasco picks Tennessee over Alabama and Georgia

Glasco announced live on Wednesday night with 3 SEC powers on the table, and it was Tennessee.

This is a recruitment that moved fast. Glasco had been committed to UConn since June 10, and it was not a short-term thing. He backed off that pledge on September 22, Tennessee offered 2 days later on September 24, and from there it became a 3-team SEC fight in about a month. That is what late-rising means here: a kid committed to a Big East-adjacent independent in June is turning down Alabama and Georgia by Halloween.
The other 2 finalists were not just names on a graphic, either. Glasco took an official visit to Georgia the weekend of June 19 and another to Alabama the weekend of September 26, and for a while it looked like the Tide were in the lead. Tennessee did not get him on campus until October 17, when he officially visited for the Alabama game. The Vols won that one 26-10, and you can draw your own line from that afternoon to Wednesday night.
Asked why the Vols, Glasco did not talk about depth charts or NIL. He made it sound like it was settled before he ever sat down.

🍊 COMMIT ALERT 🍊 Grayson (Ga.) cornerback Preston Glasco commits to Tennessee over Alabama and Georgia, he tells @247Sports. “I feel that was my calling, and that’s where I was meant to go.” Story: t.co/LzbIhMS6lJ
On paper Glasco is a 3-star. 247Sports has him as the No. 69 cornerback in the 2027 class and the No. 90 player in Georgia, and the Composite is lower, at No. 88 at the position and No. 883 overall. But the frame is the selling point: he measured 6-foot-2 and a half and 190 pounds this spring, and that kind of length at corner is why Alabama and Georgia were in it at all. He also had more than 20 offers, including South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Purdue and Oklahoma State.
Credit goes to Derek Jones, Tennessee's cornerbacks coach, who led this recruitment. Beating Alabama and Georgia for a Georgia kid is a big deal no matter what the star rating says, and doing it after an offer that showed up in late September is even better. He is a 2027 prospect, so the next things to watch are whether the Tide or the Dawgs keep pushing for a flip, and whether he gets the ratings bump that usually follows when a player picks up a late SEC offer list like this one.
