Every list like this lives or dies on the last 10. You can argue all day about whether something deserved a spot at 47 or 38, but the Top 10 is where the knives actually come out. Our Top 10 Movies of the Century The final installment of our Top 50 Movies of the Century is here — what did we miss? What doesn’t belong?

What makes these end-of-list reveals fun is that 'Movies of the Century' is a moving target. We're 25 years in. The 2000s indie boom, the prestige TV refugees who wandered back into film, the streaming era reshuffle, the Marvel decade, the post-Marvel correction — all of it is fair game. Anyone ranking the era is essentially picking a fight with everyone who lived through it differently.
