Ashton Jeanty went down during team drills at Raiders camp on Sunday, diving for a low throw from Kirk Cousins and landing awkwardly on his right knee. He couldn't put weight on it. Trainers had to help him off the field, and reports out of Henderson say teammates dropped to a knee and prayed as he left. That's not the vibe you want from a guy who was supposed to be the engine of the entire Las Vegas offense.
There's no official diagnosis yet, and the Raiders haven't put a word to it publicly. But the optics were bad enough that backup Mike Washington Jr. was immediately rolled into first-team reps, which tells you the coaching staff isn't treating this as a bruise. Anytime a top-10 pick from a year ago can't bear weight, the whole fantasy community's blood pressure spikes before a single scan comes back.
Context matters here. Jeanty was the 6th overall pick in the 2025 draft and delivered a legitimately productive rookie season, 975 rushing yards and 55 catches, while playing in a run-heavy scheme built to feature him. Heading into this camp, he was firmly in the first-round fantasy conversation, with ADP sitting anywhere from the back of round one to the top of round two depending on the platform. Raiders running backs coach Omar Young had been raving about Jeanty's growth in pass protection and as a receiver, framing him as a true every-down back for year two. That's exactly the profile that makes a knee injury this scary.
If this turns into anything beyond a short stint on the shelf, the fantasy math changes fast. Drafters who paid first-round or even second-round capital for Jeanty need to start thinking about handcuffing immediately, and Washington is the obvious target after taking the first-team reps in his absence. Dylan Laube and Roman Hemby are also in that room and could see their stock tick up in deeper leagues if this drags into the regular season, but neither profiles as a bell-cow replacement the way Washington does right now.
For managers who haven't drafted yet, this is a live grenade. Jeanty's price was already trending toward round one before this news broke, and now his ADP is going to be volatile all week depending on what leaks out about the knee. The smart play in any draft happening in the next few days is to either fade him until there's clarity or bet on a discount, since some managers will overcorrect and let him fall further than the talent warrants if it turns out to be minor.
There's also a betting angle worth watching. Jeanty was a name floating around Offensive Rookie of the Year follow-up narratives and had modest support in some Raiders win-total conversations tied to their run game carrying a young offense. Any real absence knocks both of those markets sideways, and sportsbooks will likely adjust Raiders team totals if Washington is forced into a real workload.
The next 24 to 48 hours are everything. An MRI will tell the real story, and until it does, treat every gut-reaction ranking shuffle as noise. If it's a sprain, this is a buy-low blip. If it's structural, the entire Raiders backfield picture, and a chunk of fantasy draft boards, gets rewritten overnight.
