WSD Bangs The Drum: Red Sox Cavalry Is Coming

WSD says the Sox are getting better by the day with reinforcements on the way, while the Boston version of this story is going in the exact opposite direction.

Two Sox fanbases, two completely different vibes. On the South Side, WSD is in full hype mode — the White Sox are stacking wins, the kids are getting reps, and he's openly floating the idea that this team might be able to play both sides of the deadline. Buy AND sell. That's not a sentence anyone has typed about the White Sox in a long time.

I think they can buy AND sell this deadline, which might be the best part of this season so far to me

The bigger flex came a few hours later. WSD posted a 'cavalry is coming' hype note about Teel returning and more arms on the way, paired with a dramatic battlefield charge from the Apple TV show See as the visual metaphor. It's a meme, not game film — but the point lands. The reinforcements aren't a fantasy, they're trickling back, and the fanbase that spent the last 2 years getting steamrolled is allowed to feel something.

He's also doing the lord's work in the DMs. There's apparently a tipster who's been beating the official announcements on White Sox callups all year, and WSD is publicly trying to track him down to confirm whether Monty II got the call. It's the most South Side thing imaginable — the prospect pipeline news is breaking via a guy whose name nobody can remember in a DM thread.

There’s a dude who’s been sliding in my DMs that has had all the White Sox callups before they’ve been public this year. Trying to get ahold of him to see if Monty II got the call, but I forget his name If that’s you, please slide in my DMs and let me know. Please/Thx

Meanwhile in Boston, the cavalry conversation looks very different. Mut's been hammering the Red Sox front office, with reports that ownership is calling teams directly to try to upgrade the roster — which, if true, is a pretty loud vote of no confidence in Craig Breslow doing the job himself. One Sox fanbase is counting down reinforcements; the other is watching ownership freelance trade calls. Pick your poison.
