Tallent tells the Yak his new thriller is already making noise inside the industry
Sam Tallent isn't just a Yak regular at this point, he's basically furniture. The comedian has been cycling through Barstool's flagship show for a couple years now, and today he showed up with a reason bigger than usual: his second novel, Brut, hit shelves the same morning he sat down across from Big Cat.

Tallent's first book, Running the Light, was a gutter-level road-comic novel about a washed-up standup burning through his last week of relevance across the Southwest. It built a cult following in comedy circles and is reportedly headed for a movie adaptation. Brut is a hard left turn genre-wise: a Random House thriller about an ex-Marine turned contract killer who botches a hit and has to choose between killing again or getting erased himself. Publishers Weekly gave it a starred review, and thriller writer Terry Hayes blurbed it as "as modern as tomorrow."

Brut is out now everywhere, audiobook included, with Tallent narrating his own novel again just like he did for Running the Light. Whether the Yak appearance moves copies the way a Terry Hayes blurb does is anyone's guess, but between a starred Publishers Weekly review and a full segment on one of Barstool's biggest shows, Tallent's got a real launch day going.
