According to 247Sports, Williams is a Top247 prospect and the highest-ranked recruit in the entire state, a 6'8 wingspan safety with a recruiting résumé that made this a two-blueblood tug of war rather than a formality. He committed to the 2027 class, and reportedly delivered the news by calling three Georgia coaches in order — Andrew Thacker, Travaris Robinson, and Kirby Smart — playfully stringing them along by suggesting he was headed to Clemson before flipping the punchline.
That's a very Kirby Smart get. Georgia's defense has been the engine of the program's run of dominance, and Smart's staff has made a habit of locking down the state's premier defensive backs before Clemson, Alabama or anyone else out of state can get a foot in the door. Reportedly, Williams becomes Georgia's second defensive back commit in the 2027 class, joining safety Adryan Cole — a familiar face, since the two have already played together.
For Clemson, this is the kind of miss that stings more than a normal loss on the trail. Dabo Swinney's staff was in it deep enough that Williams was, by his own account, genuinely torn — the kind of recruitment where the losing school can point to real inches, not a blowout.
