Stefon Diggs Says No One Beats Him As A WR2

Still unsigned two weeks before camps open, Stefon Diggs isn't lowering his price tag — he's just lowered his job title.

Stefon Diggs has been a free agent since March, and the market has not exactly been kicking his door down. So instead of waiting quietly, the 32-year-old receiver decided to remind every GM in the league what they're passing on.

Per Schefter, Diggs said flatly that there's no WR2 in the NFL better than him. Not a top receiver anymore in his own words, but the best No. 2 on the board — a subtle, calculated distinction from a guy who knows exactly what role he's chasing at this stage of his career.

It's not an empty flex. Diggs tore his ACL in Week 8 of the 2025 season with the Patriots, then came back and led New England in catches and yards anyway, finishing with 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and 4 touchdowns before adding 14 more catches for 110 yards in the postseason. New England still released him in March in a cap-driven move, and he's been sitting on the open market ever since.

SleeperNFL amplified the same Schefter report, and it immediately started ping-ponging around NFL Twitter.

The timing of the quote matters. Diggs has reportedly shown interest in a homecoming with the Commanders, being a Maryland native, but nothing's been signed. Declaring yourself the best No. 2 in football while still jobless in mid-July is either supreme confidence or a not-so-subtle nudge to teams sitting on the fence.

Whether it works is the real story to watch. Diggs is betting a public callout does what agent phone calls haven't — and if some contender's WR2 spot opens up before camp, don't be shocked if his name is the first one that gets mentioned.
