Mintzy bets Ole Miss to win national title at +2000

TLDR: Mintzy bet Ole Miss to win the national championship at +2000 at halftime Saturday, then watched the No. 9 Rebels finish off No. 13 Missouri 31-3.

The ticket went in with Ole Miss up 21-3 at the break, after a second quarter in which Trinidad Chambliss took over the game.

Halftime was a good time to buy. Missouri kicked a field goal early and led 3-0, and then nothing else went its way. Ole Miss strung together touchdown drives of 61 and 80 yards in the second quarter. One of those scores was a 3rd-and-10 throw from Chambliss that Horatio Fields caught in the end zone between 2 Mizzou defenders.

Chambliss finished 20-of-36 for 241 yards with 3 touchdown passes, to Caleb Odom, Fields and Caleb Cunningham, and he ran for a 5-yarder too. That's 4 total touchdowns. Kewan Lacy ran for 122 yards on 16 carries, Makhi Frazier added 101 more, and Ole Miss put up 498 yards of offense while scoring the last 31 points of the game. The Rebels are now 5-1 and 3-1 in the SEC.

Still, nobody was locking in Ole Miss coming into the week. The Rebels had already lost at Florida, and Missouri had just beaten that same Florida team. On Wake Up Barstool's Friday tailgate show, T-Bob said he liked what he'd seen from Mizzou but still went with the Rebels.

“I'm going with the home team here. I'm going Ole Miss, though I'm cheering for Mizzou, I'm brain picking Ole Miss.” – T-Bob

That loss in Gainesville is the reason Ole Miss was still sitting at +2000. Once the final went up, Mintzy posted his own transitive-property chain to show how strange the SEC has gotten in October.

His bigger point was the defense, and he's right. Missouri came in with Jamal Roberts, who had been putting up 200-yard rushing games, and Ole Miss held him to 39 yards on 20 carries. Mizzou didn't get into the red zone until the last 2 minutes. Pete Golding said afterward that they beat a good football team. Mintzy put it louder in his postgame video.

Ole Miss 31 Mizzou 3 FINAL The world already knows bout Chambliss & Lacy. But they finding out about the Rebs ferocious front 7 now for damn sure! #HottyToddy

What's left is the hard part. A one-loss SEC team at +2000 is a fair price when the offense is this good and the defense is this mean, but the ticket only cashes if Ole Miss keeps winning through November and then through a playoff bracket. If the front 7 that held Roberts to 39 yards shows up every week, Mintzy might have gotten in at the right time.
