It's been a wild few months for Trevon Diggs, and it's not over yet. The former Cowboys All-Pro is out here taking tryouts like a guy trying to make his high school team, only this time it's an NFL locker room deciding whether he's still got it.

Adam Schefter dropped the news that Diggs tried out for Detroit over the weekend, and honestly it tracks. The Lions were in the market, bringing in 8 total players for looks, and Diggs was the lone defensive back in that group. No contract has been announced, which means he's still free to walk into other buildings and sell himself.
Rewind to 2021 and this is a completely different conversation. Diggs led the NFL with 11 interceptions that season, made back-to-back Pro Bowls, and looked like a true CB1 for years to come. Then came the torn ACL in 2023, and the tape never quite got back to that level. Dallas waived him on December 30, and instead of hitting the open market as a free agent, he got claimed off waivers by Green Bay the very next day.
The Packers stint lasted exactly 2 games before they cut him loose, clearing $15 million in cap space they'd otherwise have owed him in 2026. That's about as brutal a stretch as a former Pro Bowler can have -- released, claimed, released again, all inside a few weeks.
Now he's grinding through tryouts hoping somebody bites. Detroit makes some sense on paper given their corner room needs, but a private workout is just that -- a look, not a job offer. Diggs is reportedly still free to visit other teams, so this Lions audition might just be one stop on a longer tour before he lands somewhere for real.
