The DC Defenders had the building and the lead deep into the second half. Then Louisville flipped the switch. Ian Wheeler punched in a go-ahead score, Cam Dantzler ripped off a back-breaking interception, and James Robinson capped a 12-play drive with a 16-yard touchdown run to push the Kings up 26-16. 20 unanswered points in the second half, and a championship was suddenly very much theirs.

The final read 27-16 with plenty of time left, but the Defenders never seriously threatened the Kings' grip. By the time the confetti angle hit, Louisville's #19 was already in a Champions cap doing the handshake line on the field. 8 months from formation to a parade. Pretty good Saturday for a franchise that didn't exist last fall.
