The Warriors have been quietly hunting for guard depth all summer, and the latest name to pop up is a familiar one around the league for the wrong reasons: Dalen Terry has been on more rosters in the last six months than most guys see in a career.
Terry's 2026 has been a whirlwind. Chicago drafted him 18th overall back in 2022 and gave him 3.5 seasons to prove it, but he was flipped to the Knicks at the February trade deadline, rerouted to New Orleans the same day, and waived by the Pelicans before he ever suited up. He landed on a two-way deal with Philadelphia, got it converted to a standard contract in April, and then got waived again on July 26 when the Sixers needed cap space to squeeze in LeBron James and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
That means Terry is currently an unrestricted free agent, not a trade chip sitting on Chicago's roster. If Golden State's interest is real, per Jake Fischer, this would be a straightforward free-agent signing rather than any kind of trade with the Bulls, who moved on from him at the deadline.
The fit makes sense on paper. Golden State has been searching for a reserve guard who can defend and get downhill after losing Pat Spencer to the Suns, and reports have had the front office weighing names like Gabe Vincent and Brandon Williams for the roster's final spots. Terry's career averages, 3.5 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists across 218 games, won't wow anyone, but he's a 6'5" wing who's flashed defensive versatility and he'd come cheap on a minimum deal, which matters for a team hovering close to the second apron.
For Terry, this would be a fifth organization in a calendar year if it happens, and a chance to finally stick somewhere. For the Warriors, it's a low-risk flier at a position of real need as they round out the back of the roster before training camp.
