White Sox Dave loses Game 3 to Ohio's Tate and the Guardians

TLDR: Ohio's Tate and his family sat among the White Sox crowd at Rate Field as the Guardians won ALDS Game 3 9-3, cut Chicago's series lead to 2-1 and left White Sox Dave stone-faced.
The trash talk started hours before first pitch. Tate's Cleveland family and WSD were under one roof that morning, and Uncle Pat opened with a shot at the sellout.
Our first Chicago vs Cleveland argument has broken out between Uncle Pat & WSD “The only reason the game’s sold out is because Cleveland is in town” - Uncle Pat
Cleveland came into this one down 0-2 in the series and facing elimination. One more Sox win and the Guardians go home. That gave WSD an opening to talk big, and he blew it before anyone had even left for the park. He promised Uncle Russell cheddar cheese for tomorrow's breakfast sandwiches, which is a weird thing to plan for if you're sure the series ends today.
White Sox Dave just told Uncle Russell that he will get cheddar cheese for the breakfast sandwiches tomorrow. The only way there is a “tomorrow” is if the Guardians win. Ladies and Gentlemen, we got him.
Then they got to the ballpark, and Tate learned what being outnumbered really feels like. Rate Field drew 40,590 people, and most of them were wearing black. Tate filmed a selfie from the stands while the Sox fans behind him pointed, laughed and hammed it up. His count of Cleveland fans in the building was deliberately bad math.
I have never in my life been more isolated than at this Guardians vs White Sox game. At Michigan, at Pittsburgh, doesn’t matter. I think me, my Dad, and my Uncle are the only 4 Cleveland fans in this stadium. #ManInTheArena
Early on, it looked like WSD's day. The Sox scored first and the upper deck waved its towels. In the 3rd inning, Cleveland's bats finally woke up. Bryan Hudson and Hagen Smith combined to walk 3 batters, and Jo Adell sliced a 1-2 fastball just inside the first-base line for a bases-clearing triple. Steven Kwan, Jose Ramirez and Chase DeLauter all scored, and it was 4-1 Guardians.
That's when WSD started coping out loud. Standing in the upper deck with a Modelo in his hand, he said he was more confident now than he'd been 5 minutes earlier. The Guardians fan next to him was applauding. His face didn't match the words.
Bases clearing triple makes it 4-1 Guardians “Trust me we’re all good” - @barstoolWSD “Yeah, you’re all good and Obama’s throwing the first pitch” - @OhioTate “I’m more confident now than I was 5 minutes ago” - @barstoolwsd
It didn't get any better for the Sox after that. The lead kept growing, Uncle Pat made fun of Chicago for losing 2 replay challenges, and the Sox lineup struck out 19 times, a postseason record for a 9-inning game. Going into the 9th it was 7-3. Tate had the family's whole crew around him, and WSD was looking at the floor.
Checking in heading into the 9th “A lot of game left, but the White Sox better hope they get us today” - @OhioTate “It’s not over” - @barstoolWSD
It ended 9-3 Cleveland. The White Sox still lead the series 2-1, but now there's a Game 4 on Thursday, and that means WSD has to show up with the cheddar. Chicago has 1 more chance at home to close it out. If they don't, the series goes to a Game 5 in Cleveland, and Tate's family is already counting on it.
