Bellerive Country Club put on a Sunday show, and it came down to the last few holes. Wyndham Clark and Rory McIlroy traded the lead all afternoon before Clark finally broke the deadlock late.

That tie didn't last long. Clark answered right back with his first birdie of the day, a one-shot lead, and a fist pump you could feel through the TV.

Wyndham Clark. Needed it. GOT IT. First birdie of the day, a one shot lead, and a MASSIVE fist pump. https://t.co/Cq9g7fQw6x
From there Clark didn't blink. He birdied the last 3 holes to seal it, which is exactly the kind of finish that turns a close leaderboard into a runaway. It's his 3rd win of the season, and per Yahoo Sports, he avoided a late collapse to fend off McIlroy for the title.

Clark wasn't the only storyline at Bellerive. Gary Woodland, who came in needing a big week just to secure his FedEx Cup Playoff spot, put together a run that got him into the mix and, according to Fore Play, sent him to his first Tour Championship since 2019.

Gary Woodland will play in his first Tour Championship since 2019. Special, special stuff. https://t.co/0O9XqmqQDa
And then there was Scottie Scheffler, who finished tied for 12th but revealed afterward that he'd been dealing with hand, foot and mouth disease all week — bad enough that just gripping a club hurt. That he still played all 4 rounds and finished inside the top 15 says plenty about how he's wired.

As for the mid-round comic relief, fans couldn't help but zero in on a golfer bending down to pick something off the ground mid-broadcast, with Barstool's own crew cracking that pros are 'just like us.' It's the kind of throwaway moment that only sticks out because the leaderboard behind it was so tight all day.
Clark's win locks him in as one of the hottest players on Tour heading into the Tour Championship at East Lake, where he'll try to close out the FedEx Cup with McIlroy, Woodland and the rest of the top 30 chasing him down.
