This one's less about who these teams were in 2025 and more about who they'll be by the time Halloween weekend rolls around. The quarterback rooms on both sidelines are the whole story here. Duke lost Darian Mensah — a guy who threw for nearly 4,000 yards and 34 touchdowns in 2025 — to Miami in a messy portal exit that reportedly involved a lawsuit and settlement before he ever put on a Blue Devils jersey again. The series has been dead even for two decades — 3-3 since 2006 — so there's no long history tilting one way here. What decides this game in late October will be whichever quarterback room has actually settled by then. Duke gets the extra boost of a home crowd and a coaching staff that's earned the benefit of the doubt; BC still has to show it can win the close ones instead of the way it did in 2025.
Both fan bases will be watching camp battles and September tape closely, because right now this is a projection more than a certainty. A lot can change in three months of preseason football, and both staffs know it.
