Delaware pulled off one of the more remarkable debut seasons in recent memory, going 7-6 in its first year up in FBS and capping it with a 20-13 win over Louisiana in the 68 Ventures Bowl. Coastal Carolina, meanwhile, spent its offseason blowing everything up. The Chanticleers finished 6-7, got run off the field 59-10 by James Madison in the finale, and fired Tim Beck the next day. New coach Ryan Beard walked in from Missouri State and immediately reloaded with 50-plus transfer portal additions — including a completely rebuilt quarterback room, since every QB from the 2025 roster left.

That QB overhaul is the whole story for Coastal Carolina heading into Saturday. Arkansas transfer Trever Jackson and JUCO transfer Tre Guerra headline a group with zero returning experience at the position for this program, running a brand-new staff's system for the first time in a real game. Delaware has the opposite problem, and it's a good one to have: Nick Minicucci is back after throwing for 3,683 yards and 23 touchdowns once he took over following Zach Marker's season-ending knee injury, and leading receiver Sean Wilson (68 catches, 877 yards) is back with him.
