This one's built around unsettled quarterback rooms on both sides. Georgia State enters with Cameran Brown as the presumptive starter after he averaged 25.3 points per game across four late-2025 starts, with Merrimack transfer Ayden Pereira pushing from behind. App State blew up its entire QB room this offseason — every 2025 starter left in the portal — and rebuilt around Malachi Singleton, Henry Hasselbeck and Tommy Ulatowski, with Singleton and Hasselbeck the clear front-runners for new OC Mike Anthony's tempo-based passing attack.
The roster overhauls go way beyond the quarterback spot. App State brought in roughly 35 transfers and another 29 high school and JUCO signees after nearly 40 players left — only two returning players started more than seven games in 2025. Georgia State's turnover is just as steep: four returning starters from five-plus games, after head coach Dell McGee leaned hard into proven production from FCS and lower-division ranks, landing running backs Lanear McCrary Jr. and Savion Hart plus edge rusher Xavier Esquillen off an 11.5-sack season at Savannah State.

The head-to-head record adds a layer neither team's 2026 roster can erase: App State is 12-0 all-time against Georgia State, including a 41-20 win in the most recent meeting last October. Georgia State has never beaten the Mountaineers.
