Louisville shows up with a new quarterback but the same winning infrastructure. Lincoln Kienholz steps in after Miller Moss left for the NFL, and while he's got more legs than any Brohm passer before him, he's doing it behind a rebuilt interior offensive line that Louisville hopes fixes a real problem — the Cardinals gave up 25 sacks a year ago after allowing just 15 the year before. North Carolina, meanwhile, handed its offense to Bobby Petrino after firing Freddie Kitchens, a swing-for-the-fences move that says everything about how last season went.
That last season was a 4-8 finish that left the Tar Heels out of a bowl for the first time since 2018 — a rough welcome for Belichick in year one. He responded by cleaning house: Kitchens is gone, special teams coach Mike Preifer is gone, and Petrino now calls the plays while Steve Belichick runs the defense. Brohm, by contrast, isn't rebuilding anything — he's reloading. Louisville has racked up 28 wins in his first 3 seasons and is coming off back-to-back 9-4 campaigns, closing last year with a 41-0 beatdown of Kentucky and a Boca Raton Bowl win over Toledo.
