Missouri Tigers at Arkansas Razorbacks

TLDR: Missouri has looked like 2 different teams this year: one at home that hung 45 on Florida and held Texas A&M to 6, and one on the road that just scored 3 points in Oxford. On Halloween it goes on the road again, to an Arkansas team that finally won an SEC game.

SAT 10/31, 6:45 PM CT · Week 9

No. 13 Missouri (5-2) visits Arkansas (3-4) after a 31-3 loss at Ole Miss, where SEC rushing leader Jamal Roberts was held to 39 yards and the Tigers fell to 0-2 on the road this season. Arkansas just ended a 14-game SEC losing streak at Vanderbilt behind KJ Jackson and a season-high 187 rushing yards. Both teams have 2 weeks to prepare, and the game comes down to whether Missouri's home form travels.

Missouri Tigers
  • Simmons threw for 339 yards even in the Ole Miss loss
  • Olugbode coming off a career-best 9-catch, 127-yard game
  • Beat Texas A&M 27-6, the team that routed Arkansas
  • 0-2 on the road, scored 3 at Ole Miss
  • Roberts held to 39 yards on 20 carries last time out
  • Brady, Hoffman, Green, Hardy all out
Arkansas Razorbacks
  • Season-high 187 rushing yards at Vanderbilt
  • KJ Jackson's best game as a Razorback: 251 passing, 58 rushing
  • Home game with 2 weeks to prepare
  • Lost to Georgia and Texas A&M by a combined 55 points
  • 1-3 in the SEC, first league win only just came
  • TE Lassiter out for the season

The football side starts at quarterback. Austin Simmons threw for 339 yards at Ole Miss, going 25-of-44 with an interception, and still came home with 3 points. Simmons was moving the ball between the 20s. The run game was the problem. Jamal Roberts came into that game leading the SEC with 828 rushing yards and finished with 39 on 20 carries. On the other side, KJ Jackson just had what may be his best game as a Razorback: 21-of-31 for 251 yards plus 58 on the ground in a 31-21 win at Vanderbilt.

That Vanderbilt win matters more than a 3-4 record suggests. It ended a 14-game SEC losing streak that went back to October 2024, and it was Ryan Silverfield's first conference win in his first year in charge. Arkansas ran for a season-high 187 yards in Nashville, with Russell and Settles splitting the work behind Jackson. Missouri's run defense will have to deal with that on Saturday, October 31, in a building where the Hogs need a result to save their season.

Neither team has a game between now and this one, so both get 2 weeks to prepare. That matters most for Missouri, which has to work out why its offense disappears away from Columbia. The Ole Miss loss was the Tigers' 8th straight against ranked SEC teams on the road. Arkansas isn't ranked, but Missouri's 2 road games this season ended in a 31-24 loss at Mississippi State and the beating in Oxford.

Look at who Arkansas has lost to. Georgia beat the Razorbacks 45-17 in Fayetteville and Texas A&M won 34-7, both lopsided. The Tennessee game, a 24-17 loss at home, was close. Missouri beat that same Texas A&M team 27-6. So on paper the Tigers are clearly the better team. The question is whether they play like it in a road SEC game, which they haven't done yet this year.

Missouri's receivers are part of the story. Donovan Olugbode had a career-best 9 catches for 127 yards at Ole Miss, and he may need to do it again. Wide receiver J. Brady and tight end G. Hoffman have both been out since September, and guard C. Green has no timetable to return. That leaves the Tigers shorthanded on the line and in the passing game. Running back A. Hardy is also out with a leg injury, so the backfield is mostly Roberts, and Ole Miss just showed what happens when he gets bottled up.

Arkansas has a shorter injury list. The main loss is tight end M. Lassiter, who is out for the season with an upper-body injury. Silverfield's offense has adjusted around that. Missouri needs to get Roberts back on track and get a road game to look like its home games. Arkansas needs to prove the Vanderbilt win wasn't a one-off and that a ground game that worked against the SEC's last-place team also works against a ranked one.
