Moore inherited a program that's starting over at basically every position of consequence. UC Davis transfer Caden Pinnick takes over at quarterback, Matt Miller runs a first-year offense built around a rushing scheme that finished 8th nationally at Moore's old stop, and by late November the whole operation has had a full season to find its footing. Whoever shows up in Pullman for this one is walking into a team that's no longer the same roster that got run off the field by Washington last fall.
The bigger name on this staff might be on defense. Trent Bray, who spent the last two years as Oregon State's head coach, dropped down to run Washington State's defense and is installing a 4-2-5 look from scratch. That kind of scheme change takes reps, and a Week 13 flex game gives the clearest read yet on whether it's sticking. Kirby Voorhees returns as the team's leading rusher behind a line anchored by veteran tackle Ashton Tripp, so the offense at least has one proven piece to lean on if the passing game is still finding its rhythm this late in the year.
