Everything about Texas Tech's season traces back to Brendan Sorsby. The quarterback spent the offseason fighting the NCAA after it ruled him permanently ineligible over past sports betting, and a Lubbock judge ultimately sided with him — clearing Sorsby to play in 2026, with a 2-game absence built into the deal before he returned for the Big 12 opener against Houston on September 18. Baylor doesn't have that kind of clarity at the position.
